Accept that you can’t do it all
How’s your week going? I’m currently enjoying the rain in Miami. It’s so perfect for writing this newsletter but not so much for the outdoor photoshoots that I had planned this week. I’m trying to go with the flow, like Luis Enrique would say in this song “Yo no se mañana” (I don’t know what tomorrow will bring). We really don’t know, but today I’m bringing you 3 tips that might interest you!
1 . Acceptance on time: There are a couple of things that are clear to me about timing. 1. Our lives are finite, so make the best of it 2. Focus on what lights you up. The problem is that there are a lot of things that light me up and I tend to feel guilty for not doing them all. Whenever I find myself searching for answers, they somehow find their way to me. This time I found Oliver Burkeman’s Ted Talk. He confirms that yes, our time is limited here on earth but also “No, you don’t even have time for all the important things that matter to you” therefore, there has to be acceptance that we won’t be able to do all the things that we want to do. He has a new book out that I’m looking forward to reading, in the meantime here’s his Ted talk.
2. Three questions to ask yourself before a photoshoot for your brand: 1. What is the inspiration behind your new collection/product/message? 2. What is the color palette of your brand/new collection/product? What are 3 words that you want to reflect in your photos? This information is really helpful to translate your vision into photos and create a visual story just for your brand. Here are some photos of some brand collaborations.
3. Cordless Electric Scissors: This is a a bit of a random tip, but this cordless electric tool saved my life. I have a feeling Mothers will appreciate it! Have you ever tried to cut cardboard? It’s a nightmare! I’m currently working on a self-portrait photo that requires me to cut a bunch of boxes and my fingers were giving up, this tool helped tons. Check it out.
